FAQS

My goal is to capture the story of your family, a natural reflection of you in a specific moment in time.  I keep my portrait sessions laid back and as simple as possible.  Aiming to capture the unnoticed details that occur and make each of you unique.  I keep posing to a minimum, so just relax and be yourself.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

I recommend coordinating colors but not completely matching.  Avoid everyone in white.  Check out some examples here.

WHERE SHOULD WE GO?

It’s ideal to choose a location that is either familiar to your family or represents what you like to do as a family.  I want to capture your family being you and doing the things that you enjoy, so it’s important that everyone feels comfortable. A nearby beach or water setting, a favorite park, or even your home.  Either way, I keep it simple and aim for unposed, authentic photos. As long as there is good natural light, we can make it happen.

WHAT TIME SHOULD WE SCHEDULE A SESSION?

The best lighting is first thing in the morning or the “golden hour” before sunset.  Depending on the time of year, first thing in the morning is starting an hour or two after the sun rises.  For the evening golden hour session, let’s meet 1 ½ - 2 hours before sunset.  If we are indoors for a maternity/newborn session – any time will work!  What’s most important is that you’re all comfortable and kids are energized and well fed.  So, if this falls at another time of day, we’ll find a location and lighting that works.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER ISN’T COOPERATING?

We live in Seattle, so this is a common issue.  I allow for one reschedule – but then we’ll shoot rain or shine!  There are plenty of rainy-day places that we can choose from.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH WEDDINGS?

My primary focus is photographing families and kids. I have taken many beautiful wedding photos over the past several years, and on special occasion, I would be happy to shoot weddings.  However, since my schedule is filled primarily with family and kid shoots, my time for photographing weddings is limited.  If you are interested in a wedding, rehearsal dinner or engagement pictures, please let me know, and we will see what we might arrange.
